While we here in Seattle get to watch the Mariners crumble in what was a pretty decent year, we also get front page Microsoft news, regularly. Today, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported that the European Court of First Instance, in a move upholding key elements of the March 2004 European Commission Decision, declared the American company responsible for misusing it\'s Windows monopoly. Specifically, the company packages Windows Media Player with their Windows software, a la trojan horse, allowing market dominance of the software. Microsoft to EU court: \"the decision on the Media Player opens a dangerous precedent for other companies and sectors. Airbus should start worrying about adding new features to their planes.\"

Once the reveared developers of Shenmue, Virtua Fighter, Afterburner, Space Harrier (the list goes on) are hard at work bringing their \"light gun shooter\" Ghost Squad to the Nintendo Wii. Which means it\'s a \"Wii gun shooter\" or a \"light Wii shooter\" or a \"Wiimote shooter.\" Whatever you call it, it\'s very much in Wii vein with 4-player co-op. Sure, the game has been out in arcades since 2004, but better late than never, I always say.

According to Nintendo.com, which was partially off-line for part of the morning, Nintendo has kissed the Nintendo Revolution name goodbye. Say hello to the Nintendo Wii, the new and final name for Nintendo\'s next home console. We here at GamesFirst did a double take for each of the two ii\'s, and even have one editor still convinced that the Nintendo site has just been hacked and that this will be cleared up by the afternoon. However, after the website came back up with all the appropriate links in place, it looks like this is official. The Nintendo Wii is here to stay, and the Nintendo Revolution is gone forever. All shall bow before the Wii.

Ubicom, who made the Stream Engine chip that is used to shape your broadband traffic in the D-Link DGL4300 Gamer Lounge router, has now released a free utility to check your online playability. The OPScore utility is a quick way to get a more robust fix on your online connection speed than most bandwidth testers, but it still runs in-browser (even if that browser is IE because of the ActiveX requirements, which is whack). Guilty Gear Judgement is the second Guilty Gear title set for release this Spring. This time, developer Arc System Works will take the series to Sony\'s powerful PSP handheld. Guilty Gear Judgement is actually a two-fer: The disc will include both Guilty Gear X2 # Reload, which has been out since 2004 for Xbox, as well as an original side-scrolling adventure game, Guilty Gear Judgement. That\'s a lot of gameplay in a handheld package, and with WiFi cooperative multiplayer and versus modes, Guilty Gear Judgement on PSP could be the Guilty Gear title to choose.

Blizzard\'s annual gathering, BlizzCon, is happening in Anaheim, CA this weekend. So far announcements include more details about the WoW expansion The Burning Crusade, as well as more info about Starcraft: Ghost multiplayer. In addition, there\'s all sorts of BlizzCon wackiness. Plus, we\'re still hoping to hear more about the rumored Diablo III MMO for Xbox 360. What?! Yeah, that\'s the word on the street, according to the folks who run WoW Guru and affiliated sites. The sixth annual computer and video game charity auction opens today and runs through October 14, 2005 on eBay. The auction is sponsored by the ESA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Entertainment Software Association. The auction is held in conjunction with the ESA Foundation\'s \"Nite to Unite for Kids,\" which has so far raised nearly $7 million to benefit a variety of children\'s charities. There are a bunch of cool items available, so if you\'re in the mood for that warm and glowing feeling you get from helping some sad kid, read on for links and more info.

Perfect Dark Zero has so far been one of the most enigmatic Xbox 360 launch titles. After showing us glimpses of 50 player multiplayer on their MTV Xbox 360 unveiling, we expected to see PDZ at E3. But it wasn\'t there. It was at Tokyo Game Show, and we recently posted some links to some shakey-cam footage of PDZ gameplay which has us all debating the relative greatness potential for the game. Details are still slow to come out about Perfect Dark Zero, but we have one screen and an MP3 of one of the music tracks from the game to pass on.

The enigmatic Final Fantasy XII disappointed gamers everywhere by not making an appearance at E3 2005. Fortunately, we\'ve gotten hold of a crop of new screens, which demonstrate that FFXII will definitely be another gorgeous endeavor. And the hints we saw in 2004 of an action-rpg approach to combat, as well as a revamped summons system, have only made us more curious about what the Final Fantasy franchise has in store for us. This is a day for Revolution news. We\'ve already mentioned this site elsewhere on GamesFirst, but in light of the upcoming possible unveiling of the Nintendo Revolution controller in just a few days, we figured we\'d point out some rather light-hearted entertainment to deal with the system. Joystiq.com has an article up that recaps and links to a number of fan mock-ups of the Nintendo Revolution controller. Included in the list are supposed eyewitness reports that may or may not be true. They\'re fun to read over knowing there\'s a possibility that you\'ll know the truth by the 16th of this month, which makes the mystery a bit more bearable. It will also make the disappointment sharper if Nintendo continues keeping its mouth shut. Included in the list of suggested features for the Revolution controller are such things like hot and cold feedback regions and the ever-popular touch-pad screen. Check it out.

Many of the games we see at E3 won't be available to play for months and months following the show. Others show up pretty much the day we head home. One of the more polished games shown for the Xbox 360 at E3 2005, Gears of War is an over-the-shoulder shooter with a style reminiscent of Brute Force, only fun to play. While the world was wondering what the next generation titles would look like, screens from Gears of War have been on the Internet since E3 2004, when they were shown off under a different name for an Unreal 3 engine demonstration.
